Zine Club

We live in a world where we're inundated by rage-inducing clickbait, AI-generated slop, algorithmically optimized "content," and trendy upmarket storytelling built by committee to hit the right notes of engagement to maximize tie-in merchandise sales. Everything you see and hear is engineered to go viral and steal your attention.

Now, more than ever, it's important to make things that are real.

The purpose of art is not to sell itself, or anything. The purpose of art is to communicate. To document. To look at the world through a lens different from your own and broaden your understanding of yourself and others.

It should be about connection and community and -- yes -- entertainment. Not enriching corporations.

Wouldn't it be nice to have something to look forward to in the mail?

For $5 a month, I will mail you a physical copy of my monthly zine. The price basically covers the cost of production materials and postage.

Each zine is produced by me, in my house, and shipped to you, at your house (or P.O. box, or whatever). I might slip in some little surprises sometimes, too, like stickers, a personal note, a drawing, a photo I took of an ominous staircase in the woods, whatever

If it fits in a standard envelope and can be mailed with a single stamp, it's fair game.

If you subscribe at $10 a month, you get my regular monthly zine, plus put a little money into my pocket that I can use to buy dog food, gas up my car, or get a fancy coffee sometimes. As a show of appreciation, I'll mail you a book around Christmas time. Maybe one of my own books. Maybe something I picked off my shelf just for you.

Some examples of things I've made:

  • A deep dive into the horror game Catherine
  • An original short story + essay on the topic of pareidolia
  • A pocket-size guidebook about monster design
  • A bite-size poem about an anti-capitalist Christmas beast
Zines may incorporate nonfiction deep dives and essays, short stories, poetry, collage, drawings, photography, interactive journaling prompts, games, and who-knows-what-else. You won't know what you'll get from month to month, that's half the fun!

Sounds great! How do I sign up?

My zine club is a function of my Patreon

Every month, I post a FREE deep dive, available to anyone. Patrons have the opportunity to vote on future topics as well as see behind-the-scenes updates on stuff I'm working on. And if you opt for the $5 or $10 zine club tiers, you'll get an exclusive monthly zine mailed to you.

Zine topics may sometimes overlap with my monthly deep dive, but the zine will always go deeper and include special features and surprises that nobody else has access to.

If you'd rather buy a specific zine without subscribing, you can also buy them in my shop and print them at home :)
